  • Today I Finally Did It

    After months of being continually reminded that a download was ready, I finally allowed Adobe to update Reader 8.  I hate Adobe Reader.  I hate the splash screen  I hate the delay in getting to a screen where I can actually use the program.  And I hate the reboot that is required after every update.     After a national promotion of their Search engine which relied upon the interaction of live search guides which included spots on Good Morning America, it now appears that the interest and the promotion has all but disappeared.

    I found an interesting reference to Best Buy’s Geek Squad while reading the Woot.com blog.  In addition to containing write-ups of their daily offerings, they also offer infrequent bits of information of varying worth.  This time it was as they stated "another one of my infrequent glances ’round the waste-time-o-sphere?"  Geek Squad Confidential was third on a the list of seven "glances".
