Is Cha Cha Search a Serious Search Contender

After a national promotion of their Search engine which relied upon the interaction of live search guides which included spots on Good Morning America, it now appears that the interest and the promotion has all but disappeared.

ChaCha3.pngThe website and the search engine now emphasize searchs using the search box, with only a small notice that a live guide is available to assist. That fact only appears as a choice for additional search help once a search has been attempted.  See the illustrated  screenshot below where I had made a search for Mr Blogmeister.

IWhen introduced, Cha Cha paid $5 per hour of active search, allowing up to 20 minutes to complete a search for their Infoseekers, as those requesting the search were called.  Then the time was reduced to 10 minutes, then most recently to only 6 minutes, while the rate remained at $5 per hour.

So while a Guide could initially earn $1.67 for a search, they now can earn only $0.50.  That combined with the lower request for live guides, makes earning any serious money unlikely  It should be pointed out however, that Cha Cha was never promoted as a replacement income source, but was a means whereby people could earn money which could be accessed easily via an ATM card.

As noted above, the offer of live help is made along with the results of a search using the search box.  Another thing.  What happened to Sara.  The bubbly, perky spokesperson for Cha Cha has quietly disappeared, or is busy with other duties.

Some may have a more favorable experience than I have had,   I would be interested in hearing stories from some of the more successful. In my opinion, Cha Cha’s 15 minutes of fame is over..  It was good while it lasted.
