Semiologic Pro 4.3 Introduction Today
For some time now, I have been telling you about the advantages of using the Semiologic theme for your website. I personally use it on every one of my WordPress websites because it provides great variation of layouts (one, two, three and four column) and skins (color and style) possibilities.
Combined with the many plugins available, Semiologic could be configured to do almost anything. And while I mentioned the Pro version of the software, and mentioned the price of $295.00, I looked at it primarily as a means of gaining excellent workability without expending a great amount of personal effort.
Denis de Bernardy, the programming genius and developer of Semiologic has taken his theme, and added plugins authored by others, then wrote additional plugins to preform functions he felt were needed in Semiologic Pro. In other words, Denis has done all of the work, resulting in a product that can create a working website in a matter of hours, instead of days.
Semiologic Pro now includes a completely integrated WYSIWYG text editor with the ability to add video and audio files, a newsletter subscription form, a contact form, and AdSpaces, Semiologic’s plugin for supplying ads which is similar to the Adsense Deluxe plugin, but with more features allowing for selecting the insertion point for the ad. You can select the ad be placed in the header, the footer, below each entry,. below the title, in the sidebar, or above the entries. The ad can also be placed on the Home page, within posts or pages, or on the archives page, in any and all combinations, as desired.
As Denis states on his website:
Time is money. And the Semiologic Pro Package expedites the process of creating sites with WordPress.
The find-everything-yourself approach to using open source software is a hazardous waste of time. It amounts to searching through hundreds of components for the one — if any — that works. I know; I went through it.
