Accessing the Internet When Browser is Locked Up

Have you ever been at a location where you couldn’t bring up the browser on the computer? FireFox and IE were both blocked or frozen and you couldn’t get on the internet for important business or personal reasons..
Keep in mind that this tip isn’t intended to break any laws, or gain unauthorized access to anyone’s computer, so ask permission first, It also demonstrates computer vulnerability on supposedly secure off-line computers. Use it at your own risk.
Open any program on the computer such as those listed in start/all programs/accessories/notepad. You could just as easily have elected paint, or anything else. After selection, do the following:
- Open the program. I have selected "paint"[
- Click F1 to bring up the help window, or (click the help tab in the program itself, then click help topics) F1 is easier;
- Then On the top line of the help window, find and click the small icon with question mark in the upper left corner ;
- Then scroll down the drop down box to the line "Jump to URL"]
- Click that link, and enter the URL of the website you are trying to reach in the blank using the full address, example http://www.example.com.
- Click OK, and the website will come up in the right pane of the help window.
An illustration of the various windows is at the left.
