NetBank Ends QuickPost
I wrote earlier about NetBank’s QuickPost service and problems that I had in using the service. QuickPost is a service provided by Financial Technologies, Inc, a wholly owned subsidary of NetBank.
Financial Technologies lists the following clients fot their QuickPost service:
* NetBank Federal Savings Bank
* USAA Federal Savings Bank
* ebank
* Navy Federal Credit Union
An email from NetBank last week indicated that a third party was discontinuing service by stating:
At NetBankĀ®, we always look for innovative ways to improve your banking experience. At times, we have agreements with third party vendors to bring you new products and services. QuickPostsm, the payment and deposit forwarding service, is one of those products. Unfortunately, the vendor is now ceasing its operations; therefore, we must discontinue this service on November 30, 2006. As of this date, The UPS Storesm locations will no longer accept QuickPost envelopes.
NetBanks website makes the following statement:
As of November 30, 2006, QuickPost, the deposit and payment forwarding service, will be discontinued. QuickPost envelopes received after this date will not be processed. To forward a deposit using QuickPost before this cutoff date, follow instructions below.
Strangely, neither Financial Technologies, Inc, nor any of their other listed clients mention a discontinuance of service.
QuickPost was an innovative product with only a few problems requiring attention. The major problem in my opinion was with the young staff of the UPS Store handling important financial documents without having a strict policy of maintaining a paper trail. My recent experiencies with the UPS Store and QuickPost showed much improvement. Too bad the the service is now to be discontinued.

While I never had problems with QuickPost (USAA) I’m happy to see it go. Not having a way to track an individual item (vs. a store envelope) always scared me.
Happy news for USAA customers though. They’ve introduced a “scan-at-home” deposit service, where you scan both sides of your checks via a USB scanner using a Java app, and the deposit posts to your account immediately. You then void and discard the check.
“Enter the amount of the check and select the account to receive the deposit.
Endorse your check with “For deposit only to USAA FSB account number [your account number].” Then follow the prompts to scan the front and back in two easy steps.
Deposits received before 8:00 p.m. CT on a business day are credited that same day; deposits received after 8:00 p.m. CT are credited the next business day.”
