Mr Blogmeister Volunteer Webmaster
As previously mentioned, I was appointed webmaster of a local community group. The group is the Charlotte County Computer Group Corporation, a local computer users group with membership composed of interested persons within driving distance of Port Charlotte, Florida.
I chose WordPress (naturally) and the Semiologic CMS 3 column theme, modified to eliminate or severely minimize the center column (near sidebar). Pages are used for static content, and somewhat different than most computer club websites, the posts create a blog-like personal atmosphere which informs the other members of the changes and additions in content and makes them feel more a part of the site.
Additionally, because of the inherent reverse chronological order of the posts, it is both unnecessary to remove and convenient to leave all posts in place to serve as both a first source of information for the occasional reader to a historical trail for the more inquisitive. Most computer clubs choose to make changes to the semi-static pages, altering the meeting dates and calendar, and losing all past information.
I may be somewhat prejudiced, but I think that this site is not only different, but better. Check out cccgc.net and share your views.
