Internet Explorer 7 for XP SP2 Beta 2
Yesterday was a busy day what with the WordPress 2.0.1 release and then the release of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 for Windows XP SP2. This version will not run on Windows XP without the required service packs, nor on Windows 2000 or any other flavor of Windows.
IE7 changes the look, taking up less of the desktop, presenting a cleaner more pleasing look. It also introduces tabbed browsing, matching a popular feature available on Firefox. I one-ups Firefox however, by incorporating the ability to view all open tabs.
Also included is page zoom, using the mouse wheel to go in and out of a page. Perhaps, one of the most welcome enhancements is Antiphishing, the ability to determine whether the displayed page is the real page or a spoofed page.
CNET Editors have an excellentreviewon their site.
This Beta is a public beta, meaning that anyone can download and evaluate it. Microsoft says the beta preview is intended for Web developers and other Web professionals and is not intended to be a functional product for Web surfers.
Accepting that, the 11.28mb Beta can be downloaded at CNET’s site here.
